Because of the time differences with everyone this is a great way to check on the condition of Mom. Well, where to begin. Last night, Wednesday, about 9 pm I called the hospital. The nurse went in to check on Mom and she was in the middle of making her bed and packing her suitcase so that she could go home and sleep with Dad. She did not realize that she was in the hospital. The darling nurse helped her finish making the bed and then asked her if she was tired and wanted to lay back down. Diana then spent the night with her. She had a relatively good night sleep and finally stayed down most of the night.
This morning there were some concerns that her wound was still bleeding and that she was becoming anemic. The doctor decided to give her another blood transfusion. The transfusion took longer than normal because the machine was not working correctly. Eventually the transfusion was completed and her blood levels are coming back up. The transfusion caused her some pain because of how still she had to hold. She was able to have her physical therapy session today at about 4 pm after the transfusion. Her eating habits are doing great and there has been no nausea. Diana is planning to spend the night with her tonight. Pending any additional issues she will be moved to the Transitional Care Floor of St. Marks. We are waiting for some clarification from the doctor on what the next step will be. If there is still bleeding from the wound they may need to do some further exploration to find the source of the bleeding.
