Up & At 'Em!

Mom looks remarkably well and has had a very productive day today. She had a blood transfusion today and the transfusion really made a difference for her. She pinked up very nicely and has maintained a good energy level this for about a 2-3 hour period considering she had surgery only yesterday. After her transfusion was completed, she sat on the side of her bed this evening and ate dinner and after dinner, her nursing assistant, Marrisa and I, assisted her in standing up beside her bed and she walked in place for about 2-3 minutes. She tolerated this very well and is now resting comfortably. Her nurse, Kathy, has been a true angel and our whole experience at St Mark's has been incredibly positive. The hospital recently received an award for being rated in the top 5% in the nation for clinical care and they are certainly living up to their reputation. Mom even received a bouquet of flowers from her surgeon and his medical staff. She is in very good hands. Kathy, Mom's nurse has asked me to stay with mom tonight because she had the tendency of trying to get up several times in the night last night and they do not want to risk her taking an unnecessary fall. Usually they ask a family member if they can stay with the patient for the night, and if for some reason the arrangement cannot be made the the hospital has to call on a contracted sitting service. I told Kathy I was happy to oblige. I think mom is to very very well and making very good progress. Please continue to keep both her and dad in your prayers and I will post another update tomorrow. Until then, God bless!
